Isolate the problem. Here's how...
1. Check that your computer is configured and working correctly:
- Go to a friend's room who has a working Dormitories internet connection.
Connect your computer using your friend's cable to his/her wall jack.
If you can't browse the Internet, your computer is not configured properly
or it has a hardware problem.
- If your computer can browse the Internet using your friend's
cable and wall jack, it is properly configured. There is likely a problem with your cable or the wall jack in your room.
2. Borrow your friend's cable and connect your computer to the
wall jack in your room.
- If you connect, get a new cable.
- If you still can not connect in your room using your friend's cable,
your problem is probably the wall jack. Call the Help Desk at (212)
