What is "spam"?
A: Unwanted email.
Q: How do I go to my Spam Quarantine?
A: In the Spam Quarantine Summary email that you receive once daily,
just click on the link at the bottom of the messages that says "click
here", and it will take you to your quarantine.
Q: If I need to check what is in my Spam Quarantine before the end
of the day, how do I get into it?
A: Go to the web address https://mailscan.newschool.edu and enter your
GroupWise user name and Password.
Q: Can I read an email in my Spam Quarantine before deciding what to
do with it?
A: Yes, highlight the item (the highlight is dark gray when you move
the mouse over it) and double-click on it.
Q: Can I decide not to use the Spam Quarantine?
A: You can turn off the Spam Quarantine. Inside your quarantine, click
on "Preferences" then choose "Quarantine Enable/Disable".
Next to "Enable Quarantine", click on the "No" button
and messages that would ordinarily be quarantined will be delivered to your
GroupWise inbox.
Q: What is the Whitelist button in the quarantine?
A: If you click Whitelist it will allow future email from the sender(s)
you have checked off in the list of spam items held in your Spam Quarantine,
regardless of the content of the message. Email from that sender will always
be delivered to your email account in the future.
Q: How does the Blacklist work?
A: To "Blacklist" a sender: in your Spam Quarantine, click
on your "Preferences" tab, then click " Whitelist/Blacklist".
Under the heading "Blocked Email Addresses and Domains", type in
the address you wish to block, then click the "Add" button. Blacklist
will cause future email from the sender you put on this list to be completely
blocked, regardless of the content of the message. Blocked email addresses
are NOT delivered to your quarantine or your email account and no notification
is sent to you or the sender.
Q: Can I Whitelist or Blacklist all senders at a certain domain (for
example, all email from yahoo.com)?
A: Yes. To Whitelist a whole domain: inside the Spam Quarantine, click
on "Preferences", then choose Whitelist/Blacklist. In the textbox
for allowed addresses enter the domain (our example, yahoo.com) then click
"Add". In the same manner, to Blacklist a whole domain enter the
domain in the textbox for "Blocked Email Addresses and Domains"
and click "Add".
Q: How do I remove addresses from my Whitelist or Blacklist ?
A: To remove senders from the Whitelist or Blacklist, go into your
"Preferences" in the Spam Quarantine and delete the entries in either
list that you wish to remove by clicking the trash can icon.
Q: I accidentally clicked "Deliver" instead of "Delete"
in my quarantine. Will future email from that sender be quarantined?
A: Yes, choosing "Deliver" only acts on that particular message.
Future messages from that sender will still go to the quarantine.
Q: I've deleted something from my quarantine by mistake. Can it be
recovered?
A: No. Once you delete the item, it's gone. You may need to contact
the sender.
