Using the list serve

· Majordomo is a software program that is used to manage mailing lists. It recognizes the following commands. Each command must be on a line by itself. Send commands to majordomo@listserv.newschool.edu. Leave the subject blank. Never use this address when you want to mail to an individual group.

To Subscribe:

To:	majordomo@listserv.newschool.edu
Subject:
Body of email:	subscribe mylist
Function	This message subscribes the addressee to list named.

To Unsubscribe:

To:	majordomo@listserv.newschool.edu
Subject:
Body of email:	unsubscribe mylist
Function	This message unsubscribes addressee from the list named.

To View Members of Listserv:

To:	majordomo@listserv.newschool.edu
Subject:
Body of email:	who mylist
Function	This command returns a list of the members' addresses

To view a list of commands:

To:	majordomo@listserv.newschool.edu
Subject:
Body of email:	help
Function	This message returns instructions on using majordomo lists. Similar to this page.

Important: To send mail to everyone on the list you must address it to that list, not to majordomo. For example, to send mail to everyone on the mylist list, you would address your message to: mylist@listserv.newschool.edu. Indicate your topic in the Subject area.
