Windows XP Updates
- It is important to shut down your office computer at the end of the day by clicking the START button, then Shut Down. If the shutdown box asks to install updates, click YES.

GroupWise Email Account
- Mailboxes have a maximum storage limit of 1.00 GB. If you go over the limit, you will not be able send new items until you bring the total below 1 GB. You will still receive email even if your limit is exceeded.
- Email can be removed from your mailbox and archived. Archived mail is stored in your I:drive MAIL folder as part of a 10 megabyte limit on the I:drive.

Anti Virus Definition Updates
- Regularly check that your anti-virus program has current "definition" dates. Under your Start button, look in All Programs for the Symantec Client Security. After you start the program you will find the date of the definition in the lower right corner. The definition version should be no more than a week old.

Passwords
- GroupWise, Novell Network accounts, and MyNewSchool have the same password.
- You will be prompted to change your password every 180 days, but you can change it at any time.
- Your password can be changed from the Webmail page http://webmail.newschool.edu , or from the Novell Network Security box (while logged in, press CTRL+ALT+DELETE, then click on Change Password button) or from within MyNewSchool by clicking "My Account" in the upper left corner.
- The password is case sensitive and must be between six and eight characters.

MyNewSchool - Web portal
- Our new web portal allows you easy access to many university resources with a single password. Use your GroupWise email login (called NetID) to get to ALVIN, Webmail, Human Resources, Libraries, Announcements, Campus Phone Directories and more. On the web go to https://my.newschool.edu/ .

Novell Network Account
- You have a total of 10 megabytes of private network storage space on the I:drive.

Backing Up Your Data
- Data can be permanently lost or corrupted when stored in a single location.
- Keep extra copies of your important files on your I:drive ( back up only data and documents, not programs or system files) or on floppies, zip discs, CDs and DVDs.
