Operating System Automatic Updates
-When shutting down your office computer, if you're prompted to install updates, click YES.
Network File Storage -Your office PC is NOT backed up. It is imperative that you save your work files on your private network drive or departmental network shared directory.
- You have 10 megabytes of private network storage space on the I: drive
- Your department may have a network shared folder, specifically for department documents. Check with your supervisor.
NetID
- Your NetID, a username such as "janedoe", is used to log into MyNewSchool, your New School email account, office computers, the wireless
network, and other technology services.
- Look up your NetID or Reset your Password on the MyNewSchool login page. If that does not work, phone the Help Desk at 212.229.5300 x2828 between 8:30 a.m. and 5:30 p.m., Monday through Friday, or email helpdesk@newschool.edu.
MyNewSchool - my.newschool.edu
- MyNewSchool allows you easy access to many university resources
with a single password. Use your NetID username and password to login to MyNewSchool to access ALVIN, WebMail, Human Resources forms, Library resources, and more.
New School Google Apps for Education Email Account
- Google Apps for Education provides a suite of communication and collaboration tools including Mail, Calendar, Chat, Docs, and Sites.
- Your email account has 25 GB of storage.
- Log in to your account at mail.newschool.edu with your NetID and password.
- Visit the New School Google Apps help site to learn more.
Passwords
- You will be prompted to change your password every 180 days, but you can change it at any time.
- Your password can be changed from:
- MyNewSchool - my.newschool.edu - Click "Reset Your Password" under the Cancel button, and follow the onscreen instructions.
- Passwords must be a minimum of 6 characters and cannot be the same as a previous password used.
