New school alumni association 2014 summer photo contest

What’s New this summer?  Show us by entering a photo in the 2014 New School Alumni Association Summer Photo Contest.


The New School Alumni Association Photo Contest begins on Monday, June 23 and ends on Friday, August 15, 2014 at noon EDT.  By submitting an entry, each contestant agrees to the rules of the contest.

Who May Enter

All New School Alumni with conferred degrees are eligible to enter.

What to Enter

Photographs taken by the entrant since January 1, 2013.  Photographs should address the theme of “What’s New this summer?” and include a description or title.

  • Altered images are permitted.

  • Entrants may submit one photo for consideration.

How to Enter

All entries must be submitted digitally through our online entry form to enter.

High-quality scans of non-digital photos are acceptable.  Digital photographs should be at least 1080 x 720 pixels in size.


If the photograph contains any material or elements that are not owned by the entrant and/or which are subject to the rights of third parties, the entrant is responsible for obtaining any and all releases and consents necessary to permit the exhibition and use of the Photograph in the manner set forth in these official rules without additional compensation. 

For a photo in which a person or persons is recognizable, entrant must secure a personal release from these persons, authorizing the use of the photography in New School promotional materials that feature the winning entry, without compensation, permission or notification, unless prohibited by law.  Release must be provided to the New School Alumni Association upon request.


Each entrant retains the copyright to his/her photograph, but explicitly grants The New School and those authorized by The New School a royalty-free, worldwide, perpetual, non-exclusive license to display, distribute, reproduce and create derivative works of the entries, in whole or in part, in any media.  The New School will not be required to pay any additional consideration or seek any additional approval in connection with such issues.


Judging will be conducted by New School faculty and administration.  Winners of the contest will be announced in September, 2014.

The New School Alumni Association will notify the winner(s) via the contact information provided at the time of entry.

Up to 40 photos will be chosen by the judging panel to compete in a “New School Choice” competition, conducted online and open to the community.  The photograph that receives the most votes in the “New School Choice” competition will be shared with the New School community via social media and in a future New School publication.


One Grand Prize winner will receive a collection of New School themed promotional merchandise.

One second prize winner will receive a New School Alumni Association tee shirt and a New School eco-bag.

One third prize winner will receive a New School Alumni Association tee shirt and a University Center mug.

Prizes will be mailed to the winners at the addresses provided at the time of entry.
