Elka Nikolova, MA, Media Studies '00 wrote and directed the documentary film, Binka: To Tell A Story About Silence, which was shown at MoMA in April. Mary Greenwood, BA, Liberal Arts '67 is a Miami Beach attorney, mediator, and arbitrator. Her 2006 book, How to Negotiate Like a Pro: 41 Rules for Resolving Disputes (iUniverse), won the 2006 DIY Book Festival Prize for Best "How to Book." Mary has worked in careers that require expert negotiation for over 25 years. In addition to her current endeavors, she has been a law school professor, human resources director, EEO consultant, and union negotiator. She is also the author of Hiring, Firing, and Supervising Employees: An Employer's Guide to Discrimination Laws and is currently working on a book on retirement. Charles Armstrong, BA, Liberal Arts '76 has been a Naval Officer since graduating from The New School and Montclair State College, where he earned an MA in Psychology in 1979. In the Navy, he has been a Naval Intelligence Officer for over 20 years and has served in a wide range of Navy and joint intelligence assignments from Washington, DC to Pearl Harbor, Hawaii. Until recently he was the Director of Intelligence at the United States Special Operations Command in Tampa, Florida. Presently he is assigned to the Central Intelligence Agency as the Senior Special Assistant to the Associate Director for Military Support.

Celesti Colds Fechter, BA, Liberal Arts '96 (MA '99, PhD '03, Psychology, NSSR) was appointed associate dean for Academic Services at The New School for General Studies where she is responsible for all aspects of student life and student academic services for undergraduate, graduate, and continuing education students in The New School for General Studies’ degree, certificate, and adult education programs. Originally on the staff of Lang College, she has been at The New School since 1999, first in the Bachelor’s Program and, since 2003 in the Dean’s Office as assistant dean for Academic Affairs. She teaches psychology in the Department of Social Sciences and chairs the University Diversity Committee and oversees Diversity Initiative. She holds a PhD in psychology from The New School for Social Research.

Simone Duarte's, MS, International Affairs '04 documentary about the late UN envoy Sergio Vieira de Mello, En Route to Baghdad, had its DVD release in the United States and Canada. Deborah Fenker, BA, Liberal Arts '06 participated in the Lance Armstrong Foundation's LIVESTRONG Challenge on October 8 in Austin, Texas. She raised $3,462.51 towards a team total of $60,165.64, led by team captain, Zang Toi '84 (Parsons). Deborah actually ended up riding 75 miles instead of the intended 40 due to the misguided directions given by a roadside volunteer!

Emily Kaller, BA, Liberal Arts '93 has been named a partner of the law firm of Greenbaum, Rowe, Smith & Davis LLP in Woodbridge, New Jersey. As a member of the Litigation Department, her practice focuses on federal and state commercial litigation. Emily received her law degree with high honors from Rutgers University School of Law, Newark.
Deborah Reber, MA, Media Studies '97 has finished a new book, In Their Shoes: Extraordinary Women Describe Their Amazing Careers, which will be published in April 2007. The book includes 50 "day in the life" profiles with sidebars, indexes, and helpful tips to help girls get started in finding the right career. Deborah has authored and co-authored numerous fiction and non-fiction books, including the new teen self-help series, Chicken Soup for the Teenage Soul: The Real Deal. Before becoming a full-time writer, she worked in children's television. She lives in Seattle, Washington with her husband and son.

Danielle Vilson, BA, Liberal Arts '01 received her MS in Education from the Brooklyn campus of Long Island University in September 2006 then enrolled in the Administration Program at Long Island University (Brooklyn University). She has been nominated and included in the book of Who's Who of American Teachers 2005-2006.
Coleen Booth, MFA, Creative Writing '05 has written a teen novel, Tyrell, under the name Coe Booth. Tyrell, published by Scholastic, is in bookstores now and is about a boy growing up in the Bronx. He is trying to get his family out of their temporary shelter and into an apartment of their own without ending up like his father-in jail. Again.
Justin Maiman, BA, Liberal Arts '06 left the freelance writing world behind after graduation and took a staff writer/producer position at Fox 5 News on the Upper East Side. He continues to write and pitch stories to magazines and newspapers. Justin is also currently working with Book Artist Mindy Belloff of Intima Press in Union Square, whom he met through a New School workshop, on the 2006 Intima Press Poetry Broadside Competition. Emily Bell, BA, Liberal Arts '67 has worked in several areas since her "incredible experience at the New School." She has worked as a social studies editor for Ginn and Co. and was proud to be the editor of the first black history textbook to be pubished by a major textbook publisher. Later on, she was ordained as an Episcopal priest and after 20 years of service, she is now retired.
Ellyne Culver, MA, Media Studies '83 is organizing and planning to make a full-length feature film, which she is presently shopping. She is also planning an event in Newark, New Jersey to remember Coretta Scott King and to honor Harry Belafonte.
Charlotte Cohn, BA, Liberal Arts '98 finished recording the cast album of Happy End as the lead. The album will be released early 2007.
Martin Hyatt, MFA, Creative Writing '00 is the founding director of a writing center at a small college in downtown Brooklyn. His first novel, A Scarecrow's Bible, was published in May 2006 by Suspect Thoughts Press. Martin's website is www.martinhyatt.net.
Molly Pearson, BA, Liberal Arts ’03 will be enrolled in the Film MFA program at Columbia University this fall. She is also the co-founder and co-AD of Partial Comfort Productions (www.partialcomfort.org), a theater company dubbed "The Little Company that Could" by the New York Times.
Shari Kessler, MA, Media Studies '06 has relocated to Santa Fe, New Mexico and is enjoying the "physical beauty of the Southwest and the margarita mania!" She says, "Alas, Shari has gone pro digital but will never give up her Leicas and the film tradition for her personal work!"
Sean Wilsey, BA, Liberal Arts '95 recently promoted his book, Oh the Glory of it All, and a new book he co-edited with Matt Weiland, The Thinking Fan's Guide to the World Cup, with readings at various locations around the country.
Jennifer Pizzani, BA, Liberal Arts '98 recently received a master's of science in elementary education from St. Joseph's University after five years of service with the School District of Philadelphia working with disadvantaged children in a low socioeconomic neighborhood in North Philadelphia. She has been in the education field for the last eight years since leaving The New School and moving back to the Philadelphia area.
Elizabeth LeDoux, MA, Media Studies '03 landed a teaching position in a new media and culture program, which she helped develop, at Bentley College. She is also enrolled in the MFA program at the School of Museum of Fine Arts-Boston and she recently purchased a home in Ayer, Massachusetts.
Kristy Homes, BA, Liberal Arts '05 recently launched her jewelry company at www.kristyhomes.com. She is also doing freelance writing.
Yucef Mayes, BA, Liberal Arts '05 is working as a drug counselor for a residential treatment facility for at-risk youth, performing poetry in cafes and churches in New York and New Jersey, and acting as a youth advisor for a church in East Orange. He says he is enjoying being a recent college graduate and is thinking about grad school.
Gladys Bensimon, MA, Media Studies '82 is director of The Men's Room, a six-minute animated comedy that satirizes the Academy Awards, which is competing at Slamdance Anarchy for the month of May. The Men's Room will also open the 2006 New Jersey International Film Festival on May 19.
Mira Martin-Parker, BA, Liberal Arts '98 has earned a master's in Philosophy and recently, a master's in English at San Francisco State University. She also just had a baby boy, Julian.
Wendy Kinal, BFA, Musical Theater '00 is currently teaching flying trapeze classes, pilates, aerobics for kids, theater, and dance. She is also writing a physical comedy show with WAK! and BAM! Productions. Over the past few years she has traveled to Brazil, Ghana, and Scotland to perform, work with children, and/or attend workshops.
Katrina Denney, BFA, Musical Theater '05 is supervisor of the performing arts library and alumni relations coordinator at the American Musical and Dramatic Academy. This fall she plans to attend the Pratt Institute to begin working toward a master's degree in Library Science.
Zee Shakur, BA, Liberal Arts '00 is relocating to Los Angeles this June to embark on a new career as an actress. She will be focusing on comedy for television and film, sitcoms, feature films, and voice-overs for animated films.
Danielle Vilson, BA, Liberal Arts '01 is a teaching fellow for the Department of Education. She has been teaching for five years. This May she will graduate from the Brooklyn campus of Long Island University with a masters degree in education. She has also been selected for inclusion the 10th edition of Who's Who among America's Teachers.
Meredith Mullane, MA, Media Studies '03 recently accepted a position as manager of Faculty Affairs at the Qatar campus of Weill Cornell Medical College. Previously, she worked in the Office of Academic Affairs at Parsons The New School for Design for almost three years.

Michael Kellerman, BA, Liberal Arts '00 recently joined Zachary Scott Theatre Center as Capital Campaign Director. In this role he will assist in coordinating fundraising efforts to build a new $20 million theatre complex. Previously he was a fundraiser in the arts for the University of Texas at Austin. Since graduating from The New School, he has lived in Austin, Texas.
Barbara Rothman, BA, Liberal Arts '00 recently exhibited some of her photo work at the International Center of Photography Library. She described her show, "Terra Firma," as "a study of the earth, that which touches it, defiles it, reveres it, both knowingly and unknowingly. It is the ground on which we stand."
Paula Newcomer, MA, Media Studies '85 is working on a new book of poems and recently taught a poetry workshop in the Centennial Gardens at the annual Walt Whitman Poetry Festival in Ocean Grove, New Jersey. This past summer Paula was a featured reader at the Black Box Theater's Women's Festival in Asbury Park, N.J. She is now appearing (January 2006) in a play, "Some Bodies," where she will perform her original monologue "Nothing's Permanent." Paula is marketing several young adult novels and continues to read her poetry and teach workshops for writers and poets along the central Jersey shore. Her oldest son, Turner, 18, enjoys filmmaking and creative writing and is now applying to colleges for the fall, and her son, Crosby, 15, is a cross country runner who recently completed a 15K Habitat for Humanity fundraiser along the Jersey shore. Paula's husband, Peter Falk, a veterinarian, has hosted a call-in radio show for pet owners and continues to teach community school classes in pet loss and pet care.
Colleen Wint-Smith, MA, Media Studies '85 has been working in the nonprofit sector for 10 years. Currently, she coordinates a six-country pilot radio program in the Caribbean focusing on parenting and early childhood development. Previously she worked with government television stations and in public relations.
Moira O'Keeffe, BA, Liberal Arts '95 received her MA in Broadcasting, Telecommunications, and Mass Media from Temple University in 2005. She is currently a doctoral student at the Annenberg School for Communication at the University of Pennsylvania.
Jessica Santascoy, MA, Media Studies '01 is working on a documentary about traditional healers (curanderas and curanderos).
Ruth Randolph, BA, Liberal Arts '01 is a candidate for an MSW at the University of Pittsburgh at Bradford (UPB). She will have two poems published in the new issue of Bailet's Beads, a UPB publication.
Carly Sachs, MFA, Creative Writing '03 won the Washington Writer's Publishing House Award for
a first book of poems. Her collection, *the steam sequence* will be published in August 2006. She teaches Creative Writing at George Washington University.
Meridith Rohana, MFA, Creative Writing '04 and Justin Marks, MFA, Creative Writing '04 were married last fall in a ceremony at The National Arts Club in New York. Meredith is a copywriter for Victoria's Secret Direct Media and has contributed articles to hintmag.com, Citizen Culture, and .ISM Quarterly. Justin is a copywriter for icrossing, an internet search engine marketing agency, and his poems have appeared in The Literary Review, Fulcrum, and McSweeney's. He is also founding editor of Kitchen Press and editor of LIT, The New School's literary journal.
