Spring 2008 FACULTY SEMINARS

All sessions meet 12:10 to 1:30 p.m. on Wednesdays in the Henry Cohen Conference Room, 72 Fifth Avenue (between 13th and 14th Streets), 3rd floor, EXCEPT WHERE OTHERWISE NOTED. All university community members are welcome, including students, alumni and the general public. This is a free series and reservations are not required. Papers, if available, will be circulated in advance only at the request of the speaker. Feb 6 Genie Birch, University of Pennsylvania (Lawrence C. Nussdorf Professor of Urban Research and Education Chair, Department of City and Regional Planning; and Co-director, Penn Institute for Urban Research) will talk about  “Urban Planning in the 21st Century: What Do We Teach Our Students?” This talk reviews a project Prof. Birch has been leading: the Routledge Urban and Regional Planning Reader

Feb 13 Paul Verkuil, Cardozo Law School (Professor and former Dean); Of Counsel Boies, Shiller and Flexner; will discuss his new book Outsourcing Sovereignty: Why Privatization of Government Functions Threatens Democracy and What We Can Do about It (Cambridge University Press, 2007)
