Martha Alexander, BFA Communication Design ’79
Martha currently serves on the advisory council of the Connecticut Trust
for Historic Preservation, where she served two terms as a board member
and chaired the nominating committee. Martha also served a term on the board
of the New Haven Museum. She previously lived in Houston, where she
served on the Decorative Arts subcommittee of the Museum of Fine Arts,
Houston, and on the board of the Glassell School, the fine arts school
affiliated with the museum. Martha also chaired the nominating committee
of the Greater Houston Preservation Alliance. Shortly after graduating
from Parsons, Martha worked as an art director at Grey Advertising,
where her accounts included Revlon, Timex, Renault, and Intercontinental
Hotels. Martha recently renovated her home, which was designed in 1914
by Delano & Aldrich (whose commissions included the Union Club and
the Chapin School); the home has since been placed on the National
Historic Register.
