2009 Year End Payroll Update
Dear Colleagues,
As part of our end of year activities, we would like to highlight the following recordkeeping items that can help make the last payroll cycles and W-2 information for 2009 as accurate as possible for everyone.
1. Your Personal And Payroll Information
a. Check the accuracy of your Name, Address, Social Security Number
We must have your correct name, address and social security number to be able to issue your W-2, which you need to complete your tax filing. You can confirm all of this information through My.NewSchool.edu by clicking on the Employee Tab, then in the section ‘Self-Service/ALVIN’, click on Personal Information.
b. Review your Payroll Earning and Deduction Details for 2009
Review your payroll detail after every pay date throughout the year. If there are discrepancies in the earnings or deductions, please let us know so we may research and process corrections as soon as possible. You can confirm all of this information through My.NewSchool.edu by clicking on the Employee Tab, then in the section ‘Self-Service/ALVIN’, click on Payroll Information.
If any of the information does not appear to be accurate or you need to make changes, please advise us immediately.
2. 2009 schedules
Please note, that there will be 53 weekly pay periods (instead of 52) and 27 bi-weekly pay periods (instead of 26) in 2009. Payroll due to be paid on January 1, 2010 will be paid on December 31, 2009 since New Year’s Day is a Federal holiday. Therefore, wages and taxes for that payroll will also appear on your 2009 W-2. The number of pay periods in 2010 will be 52 weekly and 26 bi-weekly as usual.
It is very important to adhere to the due dates for payroll and human resource paperwork submission to be sure processing can occur on time. Paperwork submission deadlines are included in our online schedules. You can find the Schedules and Payroll forms on the Payroll Webpage at www.newschool.edu/admin/treasurer/payroll.
3. Tax Information
While visiting the Payroll webpage, you may want to review the information previously announced this year regarding the Economic Stimulus Federal Tax Credit for 2009, which is posted under Announcements. You can confirm your Federal withholding elections through My.NewSchool.edu by clicking on the Employee Tab, then in the section ‘Self-Service/ALVIN’, click on Payroll Information.
Thank you for your attention and cooperation. Please contact us if you have questions or need assistance with this information.
