Important Announcements and Traveling Tips
Passports
DHS and US Dept of State announced the official requirement for citizens of The U.S., Canada, Mexico and Bermuda to present a passport to enter the United States when arriving by air from any part of the Western Hemisphere To begin 23JAN07.
A separate proposed rule addressing land and sea travel will be published at a later date proposing specific requirements for travelers entering the United States through land and sea border crossings. US citizens traveling between the US and Canada, Mexico, Central and South America, the Caribbean and Bermuda by land or sea will be required to present a valid passport or other documents to be determined by DHS as early as 01JAN08.
Make Your Trip Better Using 3-1-1
- 3-1-1 for carry-ons = 3 ounce bottle or less; 1 quart-sized, clear, plastic, zip-top bag; 1 bag per passenger placed in screening bin. One-quart bag per person limits the total liquid volume each traveler can bring. 3 oz. container size is a security measure.
- Consolidate bottles into one bag and X-ray separately to speed screening.
- Be prepared. Each time TSA searches a carry-on it slows down the line. Practicing 3-1-1 will ensure a faster and easier checkpoint experience.
- 3-1-1 is for short trips. If in doubt, put your liquids in checked luggage.
- Declare larger liquids. Prescription medications, baby formula and milk are allowed in quantities exceeding three ounces and are not required to be in the zip-top bag. Declare these items for inspection at the checkpoint.
- Come early and be patient. Heavy travel volumes and the enhanced security process may mean longer lines at security checkpoints.
- TSA working with our partners. TSA works with airlines and airports to anticipate peak traffic and be ready for the traveling public.

It is our pleasure to announce that The New School has upgraded our travel procedures. Working with Omega World Travel, we have instituted the usage of an on-line booking tool called Cliqbook. Cliqbook will be the primary reservation application and is effective December 15, 2006.
This exciting new tool will automate the travel approval process while eliminating the travel authorization form. Approvals are electronic, via email.
Procedure:
If you are a first time user, you will need to obtain a log in. Please send an email to purchasing@newschool.edu to request a log in. If you are a travel arranger, you will need to provide the name(s) of those that you are arranging travel for, and their appropriate managers. Also, please indicate if you will be making arrangements for "Guest Travelers".
If you are a traveler, please indicate and provide the name or your approver.
You can log into www.myouttask.com and begin the process. New users can access "View The Cliqbook User Guide" and "View the Cliqbook Training Video" in the lower right corner of the page for assistance.
Please note that currently Jet Blue and Air Trans quotations are blocked. These airlines utilize instant ticketing procedures and bypass our approval process. Omega Travel is working with Cliqbook to incorporate our process in the near future. In the meantime, if you are booking travel to cities heavily serviced by these airlines, please contact Omega Travel and follow the Travel Authorization process.
We apologize for this temporary inconvenience.
Rail Travel (Amtrak)
Due to the higher relative transaction costs associated with domestic rail travel, The New School encourages you to book directly. To view schedules and purchase tickets, visit www.amtrak.com. These fares should be paid for using only University approved Cards. If you department does not hold such a card, please fill out the standard travel authorization form accordingly and forward with the appropriate signatures to Purchasing.
