Application for Multi-year Appointment for Part-time Faculty

Article XIII, sec. B (4) of the ACT-UAW/New School contract outlines the definition of a multi-year appointment for Part-Time Faculty (PTF).  The multi-year appointment is a three year appointment for which eligible PTF members must apply.  The length of service to qualify begins at the 11th semester or session and applicants must be in their last year of post-probation or in any year thereafter.  Applicants must demonstrate a standard of excellence through a multi-year appointment review process.  The criteria for demonstrated excellence includes teaching excellence, professional accomplishments and service.  Please see Article XIII, sec. F of the contract for details.

Getting Started:
This form for Multi-year appointment must be submitted to the Office of the Provost electronically, by no later than October 15, 2007. Submit electronically to the Director of Part-time Faculty Affairs, Kevin Nesbitt at NesbittK@newschool.edu  Please attach a current CV and send in the following format:

Microsoft Word, Microsoft Works, or Adobe PDF.  File should be saved as Last Name, First Name, Division(s) and primary and secondary departments and academic year. For example, my CV could be sent as a file name, “Nesbitt.Kevin.Parsons.AIDL.Fall07.” (AIDL stands for Architecture, Interior Design and Lighting).  If I work in multiple divisions and departments my file name might read, “Nesbitt.Kevin.Parsons.AIDL.Lang.History.Fall07”

It is recommended that you apply/reapply in a year where you are teaching so that your course(s) can be observed.  The classroom observation will be submitted as a part of your complete application.
