Mailing Packages

All packages originating from Departments should be boxed, wrapped and labeled. A budget number must be provided with the package. If the department forwarding the package is unable to secure wrapping and taping material, Mail Services will provide the necessary materials.

Packages that are considered too heavy for the mail clerk's cart, should be given to the Facilities staff for delivery to Mail Services.

Packages originating in Mail Services that are too heavy for the mail clerks to deliver will be given to the Facilities Staff.

Cost factors concerning the mailing of packages should be considered. If the contents of a package are of normal value and importance, and normal delivery time is acceptable, the packages should receive the lesser mailing classification (e.g. Media Mail rate, Parcel Post, etc.). Check with the Mail Services Manager for the least costly and fastest method of shipping.

Please Note: Personal packages will not be accepted or distributed by Mail Services.
