Mannes held its fifth annual International Keyboard Institute and Festival, founded and directed by Mannes faculty member Jerome Rose. The festival attracts some 100 pianists from around the world who come and participate in two weeks of intensive master classes, lectures and concerts led by festival faculty.

Bryna Sanger, professor of urban policy at the Milano Graduate School, released a book entitled The Welfare Marketplace: Privatization and Welfare Reform (Brookings Institution Press, 2003).

New York magazine, The Guardian newspaper of London and the World Policy Institute hosted a media conference on “Wartime News Coverage.” Journalists and media experts from both sides of the Atlantic came together at New School University to discuss how the media have performed during the Iraq war.

Inside the Actors Studio, hosted by James Lipton, received its eighth Emmy nomination for the show, in the category of “Outstanding Nonfiction Series.”
