Envisioning Peace in the Middle East

Ann-Louise Shapiro introduced The New School Deans Forum lecture on Prospects of Peace in the Middle East with
Ambassador Dennis Ross on October 30. For more than 12 years, Ambassador Ross played a leading role in U.S. attempts to move Israel and Palestinian Arabs toward a peaceful resolution of their struggle. Dealing directly with the parties in negotiations, Ambassador Ross was instrumental in assisting them in reaching the 1995 Interim Agreement. He also brokered the Hebron Accord in 1997, facilitated the Israel-Jordan peace treaty and worked to bring Israel and Syria into negotiations. This lecture was part of the Deans Forum on The United States in the World: Where Do We Go From Here?
