Advancing Political, Economic and Social Reform in Argentina
Néstor Kirchner, president of Argentina, and Joseph Stiglitz, Nobel laureate, announced the formation of the Argentina Observatory at New School University on September 26. President Bob Kerrey introduced President Kirchner and his wife,
Senator Cristina de Fernández de Kirchner. The graduate program in international affairs is launching the Argentina Observatory as part of its mission of global advocacy, research and graduate education in the field of international affairs. A new Argentinian government led by President Kirchner was elected in May 2003 and has begun an ambitious program of political, economic and social reform and reconstruction. The Argentina Observatory intends to monitor that process and organize periodic events in New York and Buenos Aires to discuss, analyze and evaluate its results.
