John F. Kennedy International Airport
A taxi is the easiest, most convenient way to the campus and will cost $52.00 (flat rate plus tolls, $.50 NY State tax surcharge, and a complimentary tip of a few dollars). New York Airport Service buses are also available to Grand Central Station; they depart every half-hour. The fare is $15.00 and no advance reservations are necessary. From Grand Central, take a taxi or subway (see subway information below).
Fiorello H. Laguardia Airport
A taxi is the easiest, most convenient way to the campus, and will cost approximately $35.00 - $40.00 (plus any tolls and a complimentary tip of a few dollars). New York Airport Service buses are also available. The fare is approximately $12.00. Buses depart every half-hour and no advance reservations are required. Newark Liberty International Airport
Olympia Trails operates a bus service from the Ground Transportation Information Booth at Newark Airport. The fare is $13.00 and no advance reservations are necessary. For more information on this service, call Olympia Trails at 877.863.9275. Limo and taxi services are also available for approximately $50.00 (plus a complimentary tip of few dollars).
Two major railroad stations (Pennsylvania and Grand Central) and one major bus terminal (Port Authority) serve New York City. Train and bus services include Amtrak, Metro-North, Long Island Railroad, Greyhound, Trailways, New Jersey Transit, and PATH (see note*). All three terminals provide easy access to The New School via public transportation (see subway information). Taxi service from any of these locations is easiest and costs approximately $7.00 - $10.00. * NOTE: PATH trains from New Jersey stop at 14th Street and Sixth Avenue
The New School is accessible by a variety of subway lines. When visiting the university, you can take the following routes (or visit www.hopstop.com for customized travel directions):

From: Westchester, Connecticut, and points north of New York City
Take the Saw Mill River Parkway to the Henry Hudson Parkway south and continue to the West Side Highway (which becomes Twelfth Avenue/West Street); exit left at 14th Street to Fifth Avenue and turn right. Head one block south to 13th Street and turn right.
From: Points north of New York City via I-95
Take I-95 to the Triborough Bridge. Follow the FDR Drive downtown. Exit at 14th Street. Travel east to Fifth Avenue. Turn left. Turn right on 13th Street.
From: New Jersey and points west of New York City
From: Long Island and points east of New York City
Take the Long Island Expressway (I-95) west to the Midtown Tunnel. From the Tunnel, follow signs to 34th Street and the FDR Drive. Take the FDR Drive south to the 15th Street exit and continue south to 14th Street. Proceed west on 14th Street to Fifth Avenue to 13th Street; turn right at 13th Street.
*Be aware that all routes into the city have tolls, which range from $1.00 - $4.50 each way. Please note, for students who may use moving trucks to move into residence halls, the cost may be higher due to the weight and commercial license plates. Traffic on Fifth Avenue is one way southbound; traffic on Sixth Avenue is one way northbound; traffic on 14th Street is two way; and traffic on 13th Street is one way westbound. There are several public pay parking garages along 13th Street and in the area. There are on-street parking meters on nearby streets, but on-street parking is scarce on weekdays.
