Ryan Raffa is a designer, educator, musician, and artist currently teaching as a Part-time Lecturer at Parsons The New School for Design. Valedictorian and honors graduate of the Parsons MFA Design + Technology program, he recently co-authored the new BFA Design + Technology curriculum, the Creative Coding Minor, and started the Creative Technology Pre-College Academy partnership with New Visions for Public Schools which, with support of the MacArthur Foundation, provides a design process and creative problem solving course for public high school students from the Bronx. Raffa has toured as an active musician throughout the US, performing live at the High Museum, Radio New York, KEXP, and NPR. Raffa’s work has been shown at CultureHub/La MaMa Galleria, Aronson Gallery, Temp Art Space, Dumbo Arts Festival, and featured in blogs including Engadget, Gizmodo, and Creative Applications. Raffa is the recipient of the Michael Kalil Endowment for Smart Design Award, and he has given talks and presented work in art, design, and technology at Mozilla, SIGGRAPH, ACM Conference on Creativity and Cognition, Critical Themes at SVA, Maker Faire, Open Hardware Summit, and the inaugural New School Arts Festival, Noir.
