In this class students will learn three basic techniques of etching a zinc plate: hard ground, soft ground, and aquatint as well as how to print with consistency and controlled variation. The objective for both beginning and advanced students is to provide a vocabulary of techniques to free students to explore the infinite possibilities of expression, from a three-dimensional textured surface to a flat minimal approach. There will be demonstrations in roll-up viscosity, Chine-coll and color printing. There will be a visit by either an artist or professional etcher. The class is open to beginning and advanced students.
