This aim of this seminar-workshop is to introduce graduate students to some of the works and debates, past and current, in the field of historical sociology by undertaking a close reading of major texts in the field, including those of Elias, Moore, Tilly, Skocpol, Sewell, Calhoun, Ikegami, Forment and Steinmetz.
