First published in 1981, The Theory of Communicative Actions remains Jürgen Habermas's most ambitious and systematic work. In this seminar, we will undertake a close reading of this monumental two-volume work, which integrates distinctive approaches to philosophy of language, moral theory, and social theory in a comprehensive 'critical theory of society.' We aim to understand and to evaluate this work.
