Memories can serve as the foundation upon which identity is built. This claim holds whether one is considering the relation between autobiographical memory and self-construal or the connection between collective memory and collective identity. This seminar will review work on the formation and characteristics of autobiographical and collective memory, investigate their similarity and differences, and explore how they contribute to identity.
